Carnglaze Caverns

Distance: 9 miles
Originally an opencast quarry that’s been extended into vast underground caverns set in six & a half acres of wooded hillside. You’ll be taken on a guided tour through beautiful caverns of cathedral proportions. You’ll see the famous subterranean lake with its crystal clear blue/green water. One of the caverns has been transformed into a concert auditorium (The Rum Store).

Colliford Lake Park

Distance: 13 miles
Colliford Lake Park combines the beauty of Bodmin Moor & Colliford Lake with plenty of fun activities. There’s extensive indoor & outdoor play areas for the kids, while adults can enjoy the miles of varied Nature-Trails. You can stop off at the Black Cat Snack Shack, have a family picnic in the grounds or enjoy the Colliford Cafe, a newly refurbished restaurant offering home-made cooked meals & stunning scenery across the lake.

Tamar Valley Donkey Park

Distance: 12 miles
Primarily a Donkey Park but also home to other animals including: Goats, Sheep, Rabbits, Chipmunks, Guinea Pigs, Pigs, Chickens & Birds. Acres of space to enjoy. The Eden Project

If you enjoy the beauty and wondrousness of nature then why not visit The Eden Project? Situated just 30 minutes from the Manor, it has many different attractions all with a nature theme. The site boasts several ‘Bio Domes’ which house many exotic plants which would otherwise perish in the UK climate. The new hangloose zip wire is also worth checking out.

Helston is an old tin mining town with local shops, pubs, restaurants, a sports club, and boating lake. Nearby is the Flambards Theme Park which is a great day out for the family in itself. Other places of interest include the Goonhilly – the largest satellite earth station in the world, which has a guided tour.

Monkey Sanctuary

The Monkey Sanctuary Trust is situated in beautiful woodlands overlooking looe bay. This area has been home to a colony of woolly monkeys for 40 years and now also a bat colony. See how the sanctuary works, there are talks throughout the day. A treetop Cafe supplies refreshments and is also a gift shop.

Siblyback Lake & Watersports

Distance: 4.5 Miles
Siblyback Lake & watersports centre offers a wide range of activities. Tuition of windsurfing, sailing and canoeing plus rowing boats for hire. There is a bird hide & Anglers can fly fish for rainbow trout from bank or boat (permits on sale). There are a number of walks you can take including a two & quarter mile circular walk of the lake itself. There’s an adventure play ground with a separate area for toddlers.

St. Austell

Historically St.Austell was a valuable resource for China Clay and porcelain. The 15th century Holy Trinity Church is well worth a visit as well as St. Austell Brewery Visitor Centre. If you’ve an interest in horticulture the Caerhays Castle or Pine Lodge Gardens are worth a look.
