Distance: 16 miles
Bodmin is in the very heart of Cornwall, you can take a short trip on the Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway, Bodmin Gaol (Historic House of Correction notorious over the years for hosting many public executions), Bodmin Folk Club, Camel Trail, Cardinham Woods Nature Trails, Lanhydrock (National Trust), Pencarrow House, Cornwall Theatre.

Bodmin & Wenford Railway

Distance: 16 miles
This railway is Cornwall’s only standard gauge railway still operated by steam locomotives & they travel through some beautiful Cornish scenery. There’s a Souvenir shop & refreshment room in the restored station buildings. Boscarne Junction provides a direct link with the “Camel Trail” and cycle/footpath. Bodmin Parkway station is on the main rail line from London to Penzance & has a beautiful walk along the old carriage drive to Lanhydrock House.

Bodmin Moor

Distance: 12 miles
Situated only half a mile to the North West of the Manor, this windswept upland made famous by Daphne du Maurier’s ‘Jamaca Inn’ is the perfect venue for a visit or long walk, with it’s giant standing stones, cairns and Bronze Age settlements.

Carnglaze Caverns

Distance: 9 miles
Originally an opencast quarry that’s been extended into vast underground caverns set in six & a half acres of wooded hillside. You’ll be taken on a guided tour through beautiful caverns of cathedral proportions. You’ll see the famous subterranean lake with its crystal clear blue/green water. One of the caverns has been transformed into a concert auditorium (The Rum Store).

Colliford Lake Park

Distance: 13 miles
Colliford Lake Park combines the beauty of Bodmin Moor & Colliford Lake with plenty of fun activities. There’s extensive indoor & outdoor play areas for the kids, while adults can enjoy the miles of varied Nature-Trails. You can stop off at the Black Cat Snack Shack, have a family picnic in the grounds or enjoy the Colliford Cafe, a newly refurbished restaurant offering home-made cooked meals & stunning scenery across the lake.

Tamar Valley Donkey Park

Distance: 12 miles
Primarily a Donkey Park but also home to other animals including: Goats, Sheep, Rabbits, Chipmunks, Guinea Pigs, Pigs, Chickens & Birds. Acres of space to enjoy. Eeyore’s Souvenir Store, Season Tickets, Children’s Parties, Ample Parking, Disabled Facilities. Holly’s Cafe for hot & cold meals & Cornish cream teas.

The Eden Project

Distance: 20 Miles
If you enjoy the beauty and wondrousness of nature then why not visit The Eden Project? Situated just 30 minutes from the Manor, it has many different attractions all with a nature theme. The site boasts several ‘Bio Domes’ which house many exotic plants which would otherwise perish in the UK climate. The new hangloose zip wire is also worth checking out.

Jamaica Inn

Distance: 10 Miles
Cornwall’s legendary coach house which is immortalised in Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name. The Inn has stood on Bodmin Moor for over 4 centuries. Learn of the many ghostly hauntings at the inn & visit the ‘Jamaica Inn story’ which tells of the evil yet romantic era of Cornwall smuggling & see what is probably the finest collection of smuggling artefacts in the country.

Adrenalin Quarry

Distance: 6 Miles

Visit Launceston Castle, a ruined Norman keep & gateway which dominates the surronding area. Take a trip on Launceston Steam Railway 2.5 miles long it takes in a picturesque journey which includes a transport museum featuring Vintage cars & motor cycles as well as many steam related exhibits.


Distance: 3 Miles
Just down the road Liskeard offers many resources, there’s  a local Tescos shopping centre as well as the Trago Mills Shopping Centre. For leisure activities there is the Lux Park Leisure Centre. This nearby sports centre has swimming pool, squash, indoor bowling, badminton, Gym, Health Suite, Creches, Basket Ball, Football, Sports Hall, Fitness Classes, Personal Training and Spa Pools all 5 minutes down the road.

Very close to the rosecraddoc area, Looe is a lovely place to visit. This busy harbour town is disected by a river filled with sea faring craft. Many shops and restaurants and a large beach and banjo peer. Make this town a premier location in Cornwall.

Monkey Sanctuary

The Monkey Sanctuary Trust is situated in beautiful woodlands overlooking looe bay. This area has been home to a colony of woolly monkeys for 40 years and now also a bat colony. Polperro is a picturesque harbour village which has a colourful history of seafarers and smuggling. As well as being a fishing village there are many places of interest and events to discover, like the local Museum and the annual festival.

Siblyback Lake & Watersports

Distance: 4.5 Miles
Siblyback Lake & watersports centre offers a wide range of activities. Tuition of windsurfing, sailing and canoeing plus rowing boats for hire. There is a bird hide & Anglers can fly fish for rainbow trout from bank or boat (permits on sale). There are a number of walks you can take including a two & quarter mile circular walk of the lake itself. There’s an adventure play ground with a separate area for toddlers.
